yes and no? he doubts his own expertise with how much it's been called into question, and he is uncomfortably aware of his lack of social abilities and such, but rationally he knows he is like. objectively more book-smart than the average person. he did 100% mean it at the end of caged lungs when he told april he wouldnt be any good at helping her with coding, though. he was just too far gone at that point, and that stems from the whole situation with fixing leo's phone. later he just knows he has performance anxiety and cant be watched while he works.

in most cases its better to see it as, like... a programmed, conditioned response. it's something he says for not knowing things. it's people-pleasing, especially towards his brothers. he puts himself down to prop them up, to remind them that he knows what he thinks his place is-- mostly to prevent them from having to remind him. especially as he grapples with trauma, he gets upset with himself for freaking out and losing control of himself. he knows it's not stupidity, but someone has to call him that so he doesn't get too big a head, or get too confident.

sometimes he'll say it and mean it, but most of the time cc!donnie going "i'm so stupid" is the same as him saying "i'm sorry." it's his way of saying he knew he was bad when he thinks an apology wont work. it gets to the root of what he thinks the problem is-- that there is something inherently wrong with him, and he deserves to be treated like he's lesser because of it.

their counter now is usually "you're scared"/"you didn't know better", and donnie does try to internalize that, but sometimes it doesn't get to the root of the problem that donnie's refusing to express. sometimes he knows that he's not an idiot and that he cant help being afraid. what he's actually trying to say is that it's okay for them to abuse him. in a roundabout way, he's asking.

because steve thinks you’re pretty and sweet and he likes you and he thinks he wants to ask you out but how will he do that when he: 1 - can’t seem to have a conversation with you and not scare you off 2 - is convinced you and eddie are definitely dating even if eddie says it’s not like that and 3 - can’t decide who he’s more jealous of when he sees how close you two are

I'm glad that this stunt doesn't bother you but everyone is different and it is super frustrating to basically be told 'get over it' every time stunt content comes to the forefront. Why can't we just accept that this doesn't phase some people and for others, it phases them a lot and just let both parties be.

Also, I would argue that the nature of babygate makes being appalled and disgusted by it a completely reasonable take. Personally, I don't find it to be in the same vein as other things that can easily be brushed off.

I mean if you took me saying “look into Radical Acceptance” as saying “get over it��� I’m going to assume either you have shit reading comprehension or you didn’t go look what radical acceptance was. And reducing a very difficult but important skill down to “get over it” is doing no one any favors. Because for the record … “Radical Acceptance” is a literal DBT skill. It’s so much more than “get over it”

I’m gonna be very real with you - and everyone in fandom. The stunts should not bother you to a point of distress because the stunts do not involve you. If they do you need to step away. The fun thing about these two is that typically Will’s presence adds a sense of dedication and loyalty like no other to ships, sort of like Annabel in his weird little way that he genuinely WILL GO LEAPS AND BOUNDS. But Theo is dramatic, a bit of a typical sort of man, polite and witty and trying to establish his own life after his father’s while I’d imagine ending up a bit as his father’s golden child. I can imagine looking like a man who wanted the power, the presence that comes with dating this prize and top tier rich boy, entirely regular seeming and with little connection to wealth. But I doubt Theo could see it that way. Because Theo would see Will’s weaseling into his heart as evidence that he is loved, and he is more, right? Theo is rich and high class with his manners and music and the skills and life of what a man of the era should be, but Will loves him and that can be a jarring realization when he’s used to adoration for other reasons. Theo would LOVE him like that, and Will would do his best to try and change, adjust to his environment: be a richer man, learn how to live the life, try to tame his hair. But Theo would likely laugh at him in those fancy clothes, loving and telling him it looks so wrong. Theo would catch Will returning to the grounds or the garden, attempting to get fruit from their tree, and he’d fall in love again with the quiet thought and consideration and little moment of peace that Will gains. He’d love Will’s love, his care and attempt to learn and fit in, and his appreciation for small things. He’d love how he ACTUALLY LISTENS beyond the sound of money in his pocket or fancy clothes. They’d just love.
